Polar Skate Co. was founded by the legendary Pontus Alv, after he had dedicated himself to working with Cliché and Mad Circle in the early 2000s, traveling the world with them.
Pontus Alv decided to return to his hometown in Sweden in 2003 to focus on his future projects, which primarily involved skateboarding filmmaking.
During those years, Pontus Alv became a renowned filmmaker, creating two timeless skate movie classics—“Strongest Of The Strange” and “In Search Of The Miraculous”—which established Pontus in the global skateboarding scene.
Thanks to all the experience he gained after returning to Malmö around 2011, Pontus Alv decided to launch his brand, Polar Skate Co., and began working on the project with all his energy.
BIG BOY PANTS, THE TEAM, THE VIDEOS, AND THE STORY
Thanks to its brand launch videos like “The Polar Skate Co. Promo” and “No Complyes and Wallride+Shuvit,” Polar began to gain widespread popularity, receiving extraordinary feedback. In a short time, Polar became famous worldwide, breaking out beyond national borders.
The style of skateboarding that Polar presented was as innovative as the filming and the brand’s approach—a brand that broke from the usual norms because Pontus Alv’s main focus was to create a unique identity for each rider, a creation that elevated the individual qualities of every rider.
